	The Internet2 project is announced, called Abilene
	January, the worst snow storms in recorded history hit the US North East.
	TWA Flight 800 crashed off the Long Island coast, about 30 miles from our home at the time. This is the second time the family was in the close vicinity of an airplane crash.

	Canada's Anik E-1 communications satellite suffers electronic fault in Space, loses 50% of its capacity
	The European Commission banned the sale of British beef and cattle to the rest of the world because of "mad cow" disease but tried to ease London's pain with an offer of help for its battered industry. Later, the same ban would coincidentally hit Canada, where we Hazelmere Kennels would be located.
